Credit card debt what do i do?

I have 2 credit cards I haven't paid on in a long time. I have no job no money. I owe 300.00 dollars on a maurices card and they just sent me a letter that they sent it to collections. And I have a visa through my local bank and they kkeep sending my letters that their going to take me to court and I only owe 800.00 dollars. Is this true it seems like people that owe 5,000 don't get harrassed as much as I do.
