How should me & my family dress for New York trip in Mid November?

I'm from Tampa, FL and our winters feel like New York's early Fall weather so I'm not sure how to dress..I'm usually in a sweatshirt or hoodie with sweatpants or jeans for the winter in Tampa...help me?
